Career Opportunities
Because a company's success is meaningless unless it reconciles economic success and social responsibility, Veolia Environnement is committed to an ambitious social policy and strives to make a positive contribution to its external environment.
Training
Preparing for change, upgrading people, building skills
To ensure that employees continually improve their professionalism and to stay on top of developments within its businesses, Veolia Environment has made skills development a key focus of its human resources policy.
This concern is expressed at every stage of an employee's career, from hiring to apprenticeships, in-house training contracts, continuing education, validation of work experience (VAE) and pre-retirement planning.

Implementing the agreement on skills development and professional advancement
On October 4, 2004, the policy established more than 15 years ago gained a new dimension when the agreement on “skills development and professional advancement” was signed with all unions to implement the right to professional advancement. It was put into practice in 2005 within the various divisions.
Veolia Energy (Dalkia) signed agreements addressing the development of in-house tutoring and Veolia Water signed agreements addressing mid-career professional advancement, raising the skill level of the most at-risk employees and managing the second half of employees’ work lives. In addition, Veolia Environmental Services signed approximately 20 local agreements dealing with creating career paths, setting up annual interviews, developing tutoring, providing access to certificates and diplomas and training in the areas of safety and basic skills. Veolia Transport is developing working groups on the same themes.
Overall, these skills development efforts should allow the company to maintain a high level of professionalism, thereby enhancing employee loyalty while developing internal mobility in the Company’s four divisions for those who seek those opportunities.
Campus Veolia Environnement, a joint skills development platform
Campus Veolia Environnement is the skills development platform shared by all Company divisions.
The Campus serves as both an apprenticeship training center, housing 750 apprentices in Fall 2005, and a professional training center with an annual capacity of 15,000 interns. It brings together all of Veolia Environment’s training departments. It offers fifteen diplomas, from vocational training certificates (CAP) to a specialized master's degree (BAC+5), with a 94% success rate.
As a center for basic training and continuing education, the Company’s Campus also hosts events and exchanges (approximately 10,000 visitors/year) and contacts with schools.
The Campus has also established partnerships with universities (Université de Marne-la-Vallée, Université de Cergy-Pontoise and Université de Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines), France’s most prestigious institutions of higher education (ESSEC, HEC and École nationale des ponts et chaussées) and research centers in France and abroad (including Tongji University in Shanghai, Victoria University in Melbourne, University of San Pablo in Madrid, Indianapolis University, University of Casablanca, and Kingston University).
Based on its success as the leading environmental training center established by a private company, the President of France visited Campus Veolia Environnement on November 24, 2005 to meet the apprentices and promote apprenticeship programs.
