Living well in our city—actions that improve the environment and your health

The Scrolls around the World campaign reached more than 8,500 children in the 23 cities where the Scroll visited.
In each of the cities on the tour, children thought about environmental issues relating to their city and the daily relationship between those issues and their health. They then drew their messages and recommendations on the large (25m) scroll.

Becoming aware of the environment

Overall, the children mentioned the need to keep their city clean, air pollution problems caused by cars and factories, the advantages of public transportation, the quality of river and ocean water, the need to save energy and use renewable energy and, of course, the need to preserve nature.

Learning about global challenges

Children showed great interest in the drawings by children from other countries. They often recognized their own concerns and became aware of the global nature of environmental issues.
