- Flare
- Installation in the shape of a tall chimney for the open-air burn-off of petroleum by-products.
- Flue gas treatment
- The combustion of waste involves oxidation reactions that give off gases containing particulate impurities, unburned gases and gas formed by thermo-chemical reactions. Flue gas treatment involves cleaning the gas prior to its discharge into the atmosphere. For this purpose, it is first “reburned” in a post-combustion chamber, then, after cooling, the flue gas is cleaned by removing the various pollutants that are still present; the residual dioxins are to a large extent removed at this step; at the end of the treatment, the flue gas is filtered. Finally, the collected treatment residue (water or solids), referred to as flue gas treatment waste, is also treated, stabilized and deposited in a Class I landfill in accordance with the legislation. The pollutants generated by incineration are packaged with hydraulic bonders that durably, physically and chemically immobilize them in a cement-like matrix.
- FNADE
- French acronym for Fédération Nationales des Activités de Dépollution et de l’Environnement (National Federation of Depollution and Environmental Activities).
