Help with searches

How do I search for information on a specific topic?

Enter key words

Enter the key word or words that interest you. If you enter several words separated by a space, the search engine will retrieve documents with all of the words.

- The search function ignores case (lower case/upper case), number (singular/plural) and gender (masculine/feminine).
- Searches use accent marks if the results contain the word(s) in accented form. If not, your request is converted to the same words without accents. If accent marks are not used in your request, the engine ignores accents in its search.

Search help

After entering your request, you may use the search suggestions at the top of the results page (table entitled "To refine your search"), which will help you narrow or broaden your search.
Limiting your searches to one part of the Web site
Use the site list to limit your search to certain Veolia Environnement Web sites.
Select the site you want to restrict your search to, instead of the default choice of "entire site".

Complicated requests

For complicated requests, use the following Boolean operators:

- AND: space, + sign, AND.
To find every document containing all of your words, leave a space between the words, use the + sign (flush against the search words and leaving a space between each word) or enter AND in all upper case between each word.
Example: A search request for retirement contribution will retrieve documents containing both retirement AND contribution.

- OR: OR operator.
Several words separated by OR (in upper case with spaces between the operator and the search words) will retrieve documents containing one or another of the words.
Example: A search request for capitalization OR distribution will retrieve documents containing capitalization OR distribution OR both.

- EXCEPT: - sign, NOT.
To exclude a word from your search, put a "-" sign next to the word, or precede it with NOT in all upper case.
Example: A search request for retirement -distribution will search for documents containing retirement BUT NOT distribution.

- Phrases: Quotation marks.
To search for a group of words in a specific order, use quotation marks.
Example: A request for "supplemental plan" will search only for pages containing the phrase "supplemental plan", and NOT pages containing "supplemental retirement plan".
